Learn to play Roller Derby with GRD! 2019 New skater Intake

  • Arc: Health & Fitness Glasgow Caledonian University, Cowcaddens road Glasgow G4 0BA (map)

Register today to be part of Glasgow Roller Derby’s next generation of skaters! (Link below)

Roller derby is a fast-paced, tactical, full contact sport played on roller skates. There is absolutely no skating experience required to sign up – even if you’ve never stood on skates before, our 15 week course will teach you all the basics from standing up, stopping, skating styles, jumping, backwards skating and more!

The first session is free, followed by a three week trial period which costs £20 (paid for in cash). Thereafter, membership fees are £35/month for those in employment, and £15/month for job-seekers/those receiving benefits. There are twice weekly sessions, on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings.

If you have any questions at all about the course/roller derby/where to buy skates/etc, send us a message on the main Glasgow Roller Derby Facebook page, or email for more information.

Please be aware that YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OVER to take part, and you will need to bring your own skates and safety equipment (mouth guard, helmet, knee & elbow pads, wrist guards) to attend the session. A limited amount of loan kit will be available for the intake day only, please contact us at to see if we have anything available in your size.

*** Please consider checking out our wonderful sponsor - 5th Blocker Skates - who have a skate shop in Glasgow city centre, and online - they know their stuff and will sort you out with everything you need! ***

*** Sunday sessions will be at the Arc: Health & Fitness and all Tuesdays at The Firhill Complex ***
